Nurse Chained and Gagged, Rescued After 5 Days

A 24-year-old nurse in Brazil was rescued after allegedly being held captive by her ex-boyfriend for five days.

Emiliane Tamara Nunes Carvalho went missing on August 17. She had left home for a medical appointment. Police later found her at a house in Águas Lindas de Goiás.
She was tied to a mattress with ropes and chains. She was also gagged. Carvalho was taken to hospital. She has since been discharged.

Her ex-boyfriend, Ailton Rodrigues de Souza, was arrested. Police found a pistol, sedatives and other items at the house.
