Thai Footballer Dies from Lightning Strike During Match

A 24-year-old Yala FC player, Safwan Awae, died after being struck by lightning during a friendly match in southern Thailand.
The incident happened at Santiphap Stadium in Narathiwat province on Tuesday as heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the area.
Several players were knocked to the ground. More than a dozen people were reportedly injured.
Awae was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
He had joined Yala FC on July 29, after helping Pattani FC earn promotion to Thai League 2.
