A tragic incident occurred on September 30, 2024, when Pavel Mia, a 22-year-old from Biramchar village, Habiganj, Bangladesh, died after jumping from a moving freight train near Shayestaganj Railway Junction. Pavel and another individual had leaped from the Srimangal-bound train on the Dhaka-Sylhet-Chattogram route. According to Station Master Gour Prasad Das, Pavel was fatally injured after falling under the train. Shayestaganj Railway Police recovered his body shortly after the incident.
