Manhattan prosecutors have opted to drop the misdemeanor assault case against Julien Chabbott, a 29-year-old millionaire, accused of rolling his bright red Ferrari over a police officer’s foot in SoHo last summer. The decision comes with a condition: Chabbott must complete five days of community service within six months. The prosecutors argued that while the cop’s injury was painful at the time, it did not result in long-term impairment or bone fractures.
Chabbott, the former boyfriend of reality star Stephanie Pratt and owner of the social media site Line Snob, left the criminal court asserting that he never intentionally ran over the cop’s foot. His defense lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, claimed that the heart of the case was compromised by scrutinizing the incident’s video frame by frame, demonstrating that the contact with the officer was incidental. Despite the impending criminal dismissal, civil lawyer Sal Strazzullo plans to file a lawsuit against Chabbott within 30 days, contending that the video clearly shows the car running over the cop’s foot.
