In a shocking incident late Tuesday night, on April 23, 2024, a man in Bundi district launched a brutal attack on his 40-year-old friend with an axe during a cultural event organized on Hanuman Jayanti. Identified as Banwari Meena, the victim sustained a deep skull injury and was rendered unconscious. He is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kota, with his condition deemed critical.
The accused, Tejmal Gurjar, aged 45, remains at large. Police have registered a case against him under IPC sections 323, 307, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. According to the SHO at Kapren police station, Meena and Gurjar were friends. Last year, while traveling with their families to the Mataji temple, Meena was driving a tractor-trolley and lost control, resulting in an accident that claimed Gurjar’s wife’s life.
Gurjar harbored resentment towards Meena for his wife’s death and seized an opportunity to exact revenge during the cultural event. Surveillance footage captured Gurjar entering the stage and viciously striking Meena with an axe, as seen in a video circulated on social media. Authorities are actively pursuing Gurjar to bring him to justice for the heinous attack.
