On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, a man was arrested in Fuyang, East China’s Anhui Province, on suspicion of murdering his friend and disposing of the body in a cement-filled box, which was then thrown into a nearby river. The local public security bureau announced the arrest on Friday.
The investigation began when the public security bureau received a report on Tuesday about a missing man, surnamed Fei. Following a thorough investigation, the police apprehended the suspect, surnamed Dong, the next day.
According to local authorities, Dong, a 47-year-old man, and Fei were once friends but had a falling out over their fruit business. Dong confessed to killing Fei, placing his body in a cement-filled box, and disposing of it in the river. The body was later found in the cement block after it was salvaged and taken to a funeral home. Video footage circulating online shows firefighters and a worker with a drill cleaning up the cement block in an area surrounded by caution tape.
