EDINBURG, TX – A deadly shooting on Sunday evening, August 17, 2025, left one man dead in rural Edinburg. Authorities say Julio Cesar Soto Jr., 26, was shot in the head while being recorded singing.
The suspect, Freddy Mireles, 32, fled the scene in a red Corvette, taking weapons with him. He was arrested the following day and is now charged with murder, held at the Hidalgo County Adult Detention Center on a $2.5 million bond.
