Maran, Malaysia: A motorcyclist en route to the RXZ Fighter Gathering program in Kuantan met with a tragic demise at Kilometer (KM)156.9 of the East Coast Highway (LPT) heading towards Kuantan today.
At 8:10 in the morning on March 2, 2024, the victim, Mohammad Sharfie Sukri, 21, lost his life in an accident involving a truck driven by a 47-year-old man.
Maran District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Zamri Mohamad Zaber, stated that the victim was on his way from Petaling Jaya, Selangor, heading to Kuantan.
“Upon reaching the scene, the motorcyclist, who was in the left lane, collided with the truck. As a result, the victim was thrown off the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement today.
According to him, investigations revealed that during the incident, the victim was riding with ten other friends who were also en route from Petaling Jaya to attend the RXZ Fighter Gathering program.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
Mohamad Zamri mentioned that this is the second accident involving a motorcyclist traveling to the RXZ Fighter Gathering program.
“Yesterday, a night market trader lost his life after skidding at Kilometer 166.6 of the LPT Highway,” he said.
