McAllen, Texas – A tragic incident occurred on August 17, 2024, in Texas, where 17-year-old Adan De La Cruz, a senior and football player at Nikki Rowe High School in McAllen, lost his life after falling from a roof during a party with friends.
Adan was attending the party when he slipped from a slanted roof and fell onto the concrete near the pool. Video footage shows another person jumping into the pool, with Adan attempting to follow but losing his footing. Despite efforts by two teenagers who performed CPR, Adan was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
A total of seven people have been arrested following the incident. Jaime De La Cerda Islas, 51, the father of the teenage host, has been charged with providing alcohol to minors. His teenage son, another 17-year-old boy, and four others have also been charged with supplying alcohol at the party. The party, advertised on social media, required attendees to pay an entrance fee.
One of the officers first on the scene said he ‘observed numerous red plastic cups and Michelob Ultra beer cans on tables’ as a young girl led him toward Adan, according to the police report.
‘As I approached Adan, I observed him unconscious, by the pool, lying on the ground on his back… I observed blood on Adan’s body.
‘An unknown male was holding his head, and another was conducting chest compressions. I asked the male to step back, and I began to check for a pulse.
‘I observed that Adan sustained a laceration to the back of his hed, which is where the blood was coming from.’
