On November 21, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in the national capital as a teenager viciously stabbed an 18-year-old man on the street, robbing him of Rs 350 ($4.20) before callously dancing at the scene. The 16-year-old suspect was detained on Wednesday. Delhi Police disclosed his history of criminal activities and urged authorities to try him as an adult for this heinous act.

The attack occurred at 11:15 pm in Northeast Delhi. A distressing video captured the juvenile wielding a knife, repeatedly assaulting and eventually slitting the victim’s throat. The motive behind this tragic incident was the suspect’s desire for money to purchase alcohol and food. The suspect engaged in a series of brutal actions, including strangulation, stabbing, and threatening onlookers who attempted to intervene.

Police investigations delve into the suspect’s involvement in past crimes, which include two murders, two snatchings, and a robbery. Stressing the severity of this incident, the DCP highlighted the need for the suspect to be tried as an adult, given the brutality inflicted upon the victim.

The victim, the youngest of three siblings, worked at a garment shop. The family mourns the senseless violence, expressing anguish over the unnecessary brutality. They revealed that the victim was returning from work to his aunt’s house when the appalling incident occurred. Nearby residents, intimidated by the suspect’s threats, were unable to render assistance during the ordeal.
